I have property in Mississippi and I wanted to use some of it for energy purposes. I was going to let a company use twenty to forty acres for turbines, but they said that the wind is not good there. Is there an energy that would benefit from the property without stressing the land too much? Just wondering if you knew the answer or if you could point me in the right direction.

Bardo, I suppose it would depend on a few factors. Is there a river there? You could run a micro hydro system. Or how about solar power? Here are some links to DIY solar and solar energy businesses. I hope you find what you are looking for, please feel free to ask more specific questions here.

Great answer. Now, I don't live in MS and I would not be able to get down there often. I know there are companies that put up equipment and train people to care for the process. Like UPC and wind power. I wonder is there is a company like that for solar power.

I saw this friend's cabin that had a wood burning stove and heater, he had a cistern on a platform that ran the water for the place, and he had it wired where you clip on a car battery for power at night, if needed. coolest thing i ever saw, probably.
