Imagine the future of energy distribution
I am working on an student industrial design project (Product Design). The background of my senior thesis is directed at the future of energy distribution based around automobiles.
How will alternative energy sources be used and distributed such as wind, solar, H20, and others?
More specifically what will the gas/energy station of the future be?
How will this energy be distributed?
What are some present and past designs of products that distribute energy?
What does the general public do? What’s the behavior?
Gas pumpers, Cash register people, etc
What do people do when they go into the convenience store?
What are the future power sources?
Hydrogen, Bio fuel, Electric, Wind
What is seen as the strongest potential source?
What areas are the most popular?
What is the overall experience while at a gas station?
What’s the future of the fuel pump?
How long do the stations keep their pumps?
How often are they changed out?
What has the history of the gas station shown us?
What are the gas stations plans for the future?
Are the stations getting asked for different types of fuel?
Classify gas station as…
Suburbia
City
Rural
Off exit
High traffic
Corporate
How is each state different?
What do you see everyday?
What do consumers/users want to do at a gas station?
How will/should we deal with recharging batteries/hydrogen fuel cells?
What would you do?
Would you mind waiting to recharge the energy?
How long should you have to wait to recharge?
What else could you do with the time?
What will be the cleanest energy?
What would you do if there were no more fossil fuels?
How is it different when you are commuting compared to traveling/road trips?
As a commuter, what's in your car? (Cellphone, coffee cup, cds, music player, etc.
What do you do while you are commuting?
